The course is a good length and utilises the slopes and turns of the natural landscape. This also means there is a good selection of classic parkland hazards providing an interesting game of golf and a fair challenge, with water protecting greens and creeping along the fairways. The par 3s require some demanding tee shots for an easy par as distance control is key, whereas risks can be taken on the par 4s and 5s which have wider fairways. This varied selection of short and long holes provide an excellent mix of golf for all abilities, providing an opportunity to use all the clubs in your bag.
Dumfries and Galloway Golf Club is located just over a mile West of Dumfries, easily accessible via the A780.
Excellent course, we stayed in the area for 5 days and played all the top courses in Dumfriesshire. Some excellent courses but this was without doubt the best. The Greens were superb
I recommend this course
Played on nice sunny day, with my partner who is deaf and the number of blind holes was awkward. Was not particularly difficult as it is now only two days later and I cannot remember any hole in particular. It is surrounded by housing on all sides and compared to other D&G courses views are lacking. NB: very limited parking entrance on main road and most players have to park on road outside of course. Glad we got this on a Golf Now deal and played for £16 each, that is what it is worth.
