Course Information

The signature 4th, par 4, is the true challenge here and the best advice is to lay-up with a long iron if you are unable to carry the ball the required 270+ yards off the tee. The green is tricky due to its undulations that can ruin a good scorecard. Hazards come in the form of bunkers which, although in short supply, are deep pot bunkers and require good technique to recover from. Overall, course management and solid iron striking should stand you in good stead.

    Wonderful old links

Researching the oldest courses in Scotland I found this one, which only claims the age of its current layout from the 1880s, but has evidence of play as far back as 1702, making it one of the very earliest golfing grounds. The spit of land is a textbook links site. Got a great deal through GolfNow (£18 for early afternoon in June!) which made the friendly and helpful pro shake his head ruefully. Practice ground across the road, basic but serviceable. The course is tight with lots of gorse. A couple of blind shots, but otherwise it's pretty clear where you should hit it, though my own success at that was, shall we say, intermittent. Beautiful spot on charming & scenic Black Isle,. The course was in good shape and fun, an interesting layout with a real sense of history. Didn't see any Moray Firth dolphins, but otherwise had a splendid time. Highly recommended.

Where else would you rather be ?

Sunshine, warmth, light winds - where else would you rather be ? Scotland like this is the best place in the world ! We have played here before and have always enjoyed the course, club and people. Previously the greens were very fast and firm but at the moment they're much more playable which resulted in my excellant score. If you're up here or are palnning a trip - do yourself a favour and come and play this absolute gem.

    Great James Braid Course

Good and well looked after course. Bit "up and down" in places but some really interesting holes. On a sunny day the view would be stunning.

    Beautiful course,beautiful views

Straight hitting off the tee essential as gorse abundant and conditions often windy.Short course, easily walked although buggies available for hire.Typical Scottish links, bunkers, gorse & wind the main hazards.Views over the Firth to Fort George & snow capped mountains are beautiful. Nice welcoming clubhouse, local members very friendly .Definitely a five star experience
