Parkland in nature, this course measures 5,756 yards in length and the tight tree-lined fairways meander their way through the countryside. There are three main features to look out for whilst on the course: firstly, the Torvean Hill, secondly, Loch-Na-Sanais which translates to the Loch of the Whispering and can be seen from the 5th and 8th fairways and finally, and arguably the most impressive, is The Caledonian Canal. Torvean is also where you will find the 565 yard, par 5, 5th – one of the longest holes in the North.
Torvean Golf Club is located just over a mile from Inverness, easily accessible via the A82.
Interesting layout beginning with a par 3 at the first. Course is fairly open with generous bail out areas on most holes on the first nine holes. Exception is #8 with water down the left side, but it is a short par 4. After crossing the busy A82, the course becomes even more open with generous fairways.. However, I have played the course several times and still find it challenging.
