Course Information

Buchanan Castle Golf Club is home to a fantastic James Braid designed parkland course. The intriguing aspect of the course is that many fairways are framed by two tall trees standing either side of the lush turf, at around 200 yards, and usually where the signature Braid doglegs start to turn. The course is not overly demanding on length and requires a much more considered approach. With 9 of the 12 par 4s playing short of 400 yards there is much more reliance on plotting your way around the doglegs or avoiding trees and sand to reach the slick greens. The shorter par 3s put great importance on hitting the green in the right area as the contours and undulations that are prevalent can make for a tough two-putt and some tricky up and downs.

    Enjoyable Course

This course is almost level throughout yet still provides a variety of holes with a mixture of features and hazards. Ideally suited to play by seniors or couples. Very pleasant welcome by the pro sop staff and lovely scones on offer in the clubhouse after the round.

    Lovely Setting

Buchanan Castle is a nice course in a picturesque location near Drymen. Well worth a visit. Although a flat course (which would probably suit a lot of golfers) it's very enjoyable. Lovely features and a few water hazards which can be intimidating or penalising. Very good facilities. Staff and members were also very welcoming. Good day out at a competitive price. Will visit again.
