Although surrounded by water the course at King James VI Golf Club is one that drains surprisingly well which is partly due to the abundance of large trees lining the fairways, along with a dedicated team of greens staff. It is clear that Old Tom Morris has made use of every available natural hazard at his disposal rather than just rely on the surrounding water to provide the only challenge. Tall trees sit next to, and above, an array of sand hazards with many being coupled with some tricky greens. However, there are plenty of scoring opportunities to have and some generous fairways can lead to some close approaches and birdie putts. Regardless of personal performance, when walking off the course you will definitely feel that you have taken part in one of golf’s most unique tests and settings.
On Moncrieffe Island just outside Perth off the M90.
