    Excellent links course

Despite playing mid March after much rain in Scotland course was in good condition (unlike many other courses). The course is well laid out. Some canavous bunkers protecting greens. Beautiful views. Whilst Maybe not cheap. Price compares favourably with courses a couple of miles along the coast which have the cache of the name but are not so different. Clubhouse has good bar and restaurant.

Top quality course, facilities and views

Three of us played (2 10s and a 9 handicap) Craigielaw on a windy Thursday...the course is immaculate and we were set up for a fall when all of us birdied the first...only downhill from there..the course soon showed it's teeth with playing into or across the wind adding a huge challenge (which I failed!). Only one of us walked off with his pride intact. Course is beautiful, links golf with greens in great order for the time of year. Short game needs to be tight to score as greens are well protected, challenging to read and fast. Views across the bay into the firth of forth are stunning as well. Clubhouse is very plush with Changing rooms boasting saunas....and food is available...a gem of a course!!

    Great challenge

Such a beautiful area to gaze at from all holes. Some tough holes compounded with the howling wind. I found the wind really hard to deal with but thats all part of the fun. Course was in great condition. Rough not too difficult to spot your ball in or get out off. Also had some cracking greens that test your reading abilities. I had some help from the wind on a few putts so I happy with that. All in all a fun and testing course for really good value and the pace of play and club house were all class

Links as links should look like

The feel of a scotch golf. Windy, breezy but nice. Scenery changes as tide is punching the sea back and forth later. But be aware of offering tee time later than 12:00 this part of the year. Dusk comes suddenly and doesn't let you finish your round if you're starting later than 12:25

    Super links course

This is simply a very good links course. No gimmicks just 18 good holes. Great set up off the course too. Thoroughly recommended.

    Craigielaw 26/10/2016

Having played Craigielaw a few time before I was excited to play again. The course did not disappoint. Given we played at the tail end of October the course was in excellent condition. The greens were running very true and although you can have some extremely difficult/exciting putts, if you get the right line you will challenge the hole. Would highly recommend to anyone who is down in East Lothian and looking for a game - I doubt many other courses could rival the condition at this time of year.

    Great course

Really lucky with the weather this time of year and course was in fantastic condition, was like playing mid season! The course is a proper test with firm fairways and greens like upturned saucers, you really have to think about where you need to leave you tee shot if you are going to have any chance of holding the green. The greens are of differing sizes but hugely undulating so every time you 2 putt you should be pretty happy. If you are not playing with a local I would strongly recommend getting a course guide! As well as a great golf course they have the best practise area/club house out of any of the neighbouring clubs. Craigielaw is the newest course in the area so doesn't have the reputation of the likes of Gullane or North Berwick yet but having played all the other courses this really is a standout and I would thoroughly recommend a round if you want a proper links course

Worthy links, although higher on playability than charm

This relatively new links is a tough challenge, especially when the wind is blowing, and it was. There are several holes that lack definition from the tee, which is normal for a links, but also a lot of raised greens, which isn't. The bunkers are exceptionally penal, yielding impossible shots on several occasions. Overall, a worthy course , but not as much fun as the Gullane courses, which, adding insult to injury, are visible from many of the holes .

    Fantastic Winter Round

Played this course in February - the course was in unbelievably good condition. I wouldn't have been disappointed if it was summer, let alone mid-winter after a spell of terrible weather. Enjoyable, fun course to play with fantastic views across the water. Good mix of holes, with challenging greens to attack!

    Nice !!

A first for me to play a links . Challenging and windy . The environment is really nice until the sunset . Many members or clients from the lodge started to play a 9 at 4-5pm during summer . The mood when the sunset is lovely and you can see a hare crossing the fairway or waiting you finish your stroke .. yes . If you never play a links a real one Craigielaw is a good first experience - Stay at the lodge is also lovely , you can play a 6 at no cost and practice at a pro driving range . Really a good choice !

    Class act!

If you ever want to find out how to run a golf facility properly, come and see these guys. I had a superb experience from arrival to departure. Quality staff both on and off course. One tiny gripe is with regard to tee navigation. Improved signposting to next tee would help. Also a diagram of the hole you're on at the tee would be good. I cannot wait for my next visit. Good job people!!!

    Craigielaw well worth it

I enjoyed playing Craiglielaw after having played: Gullane 2, North Berwick West Links, Glenn GC, Dunbar, Luffness, and Longniddry. This is such a special place for golf! The pro shop staff couldn't have been any nicer and made sure that I would be comfortable and enjoy my round. He gave me specific directions so I wouldn't get lost as I crossed over areas on the course and marked my scorecard with a highlighter as to where the bathroom facilities were! LOL! That was very thoughtful. This is a newer clubhouse and course but blends in well with the area. The course looks easy and straightforward but typical of a links course, it is not. I found it challenging, especially with some well-placed bunkers. The course was in excellent condition and the greens were a bit more challenging than some of the others in the area with lots more contours. My only mistake was heading out without a full water bottle as I found no fountains on the course. Will definitely play there again.

Good complement to East Lothian's historic links

You don't go to East Lothian to play Craigielaw, but this modern links next door to Kilspindie makes for a pleasant, affordable round on the side. There are plenty of bunkers and the green complexes are very challenging. You can't just run the ball up like some of the more traditional links courses in the area. With rooms, a great restaurant and practice facility all open to the public, this club certainly has a niche in a crowded golf hotspot.

Excellent layout and situation but in poor condition.

Greens very poor - all had been holo-tined and were bumpy and uneven. Very poor compared to two other local courses, the Glen and Gullane 2. Disappointed in seeing that certain tables had been reserved for members when the clubhouse was empty. Is it necessary or desirable to segregate visitors and members in this way? Would like to play it again when in good condition. Looks likke greens would be very slick.
