Ring of Kerry Golf and Country club is a parkland golf course which measures 6,814 yards from the back tees. There are two major features on this golf course which make it a very memorable experience: thes exhilarating elevated tee boxes and the water hazards which come in to play on several holes. The golf course boasts panoramic views across the Kenmare Bay, with the Kerry Mountains providing a dramatic backdrop. The overall configuration of the golf course is very traditional, having four par 3s, four par 5s and 10 par 4s.
Ring of Kerry Golf and Country Club is located in the South West of Ireland in Templenoe, 4 miles from the town of Kenmare on the N70 ring road.
I live in British Columbia, Canada, where we have a lot of courses like this, built in the 1990s or early 2000s and intended mostly to sell houses. They trade on their mountain side views, and are designed to be challenging rather than fun. This course is actually worse than most of those: the routing is all but unwalkable, and perhaps half of the holes are needlessly difficult, even after several bunkers were removed and greens flattened, as I understand was the case. Avoid.
