Course in decent condition for the time of year apart from a few areas where there was some standing water. Staff in the Pro shop were very welcoming and obliging.

    Good course, great value

Very nice course. In very good condition. The staff was not very friendly and there was limited food service available when we finished our round. Would certainly play it again if in the area.

    wet and windy

This was my second time playing this course. I find this course enables you to open your sholders and let it rip. In other words its wide open and flat, there is no shelter from the wind on any hole so even a light wind will have an effect on your shots. The condition of the course was average, the fairways did not seem to have been cut for a couple of days so there was no run on the ball. The only memorable hole is the 18th, take an iron of the tee and navagateyour way around the water on this hole.

    Great conditions...staff not so much..

Having played many courses in Ireland, I've found that a driving range isn't exactly a priority for many courses/players. I enjoy warming up on the range an hour or so prior to teeing off, so I showed up an hour prior to do just that. When I checked in, the gentleman informed me that the range was closed due to "no balls being available." The claim was that a large group had come through earlier that morning and hit ALL the balls that the driving range contained. I asked if there was noone to collect them, to which he simply replied "no." But then he had absolutely no issue telling me I could head upstairs and enjoy a cup of coffee. (Costing me almost 3 euro!) Great conditions, fun course. But absolutely no excuse for not having an open range for golfers when you area course of this stature!

    Lovely course

Moyvalley is a lovely course to play.It was in excellent condition. The greens were terrific. It is a lovely walk and though difficult, is very fair to the higher handicap golfer. Although very flat (great for my age) it is not boring and each hole has it's own charachter. All 4 of us really enjoyed the round. A 9 out of 10 from us. I will be returning.

This. Golf course has great features

I love this golf course because it plays like a links esp the f9 but is a parkland course. It's challenging but esp. when windy n raining as the course is very open. You need to read the course well and use course management from the first hole right through to the 18th ( the last hole which I might add is all about placing and knowing your club distance). The course is very well marked with many distance markers throughout too. The golfer will truly enjoy this course and will return many times to play it. I also love the golf / food deal when its on offer. Great value for money . I have recommended this golf course to family n friends who have played here many times now also and truly enjoy their round including the food /water hole the 19th! :-). Overall, I highly recommend this golf course to our home folders men n women and visitors worldwide who come to Ireland to play golf. The course hosts a very nice Club House with a Hotel just beside it. Scenery / surroundings are also very nice.

    Well Kept

Had heard different feedback about Moyvalley. Had played there before and thought it was very nice. Played on Saturday on the 7th of December and was pleasantly surprised to firstly get out for a round in early December but also to find that the course was in great condition.

    Great course

I played here recently. I had never heard of this course beforehand. I was very impressed with the challenging aspect of this course. The greens are very nice and I like the layout as a whole. It reminds me abit of the Monty course in Carton house. It is great value for money and on par with any championship course. I will be back to play very soon again. Some highlights are the tricky par trees and challenging par 5s

    Poor Greens at Moyvalley

The greens had holes in them and i dont mean pitch marks. These should have been repaired by the green staff. I also think to make it more appealing to visitors, a map of each hole should be on each tee, not just on the card.. I dont think it was worth €23 a round

    poor greens at Moyvalley

I found a lot of the greens had holes in them. .not just pitch marks. Actual holes which should have been repaired by green staff. Possibly a good idea to put a map of the hole on the tee box not just on the card.. a little steep at €23.

Good course badly let down by atrocious bunkers

Hi all. Moyvalley is a good course with lots of challenging and interesting holes, particularly the finishing 4-5 holes and a great 18th!! The big big problem is that the bunkers have no sand in them, are easily flooded and when dry are like concrete. If you find them (and they are well placed to catch you!) they will spoil your round as you'll get ton's of bladed shots and/or complete clean strikes like you were hitting off concrete. It's a real shame and turns a 4 or 4.5 star course and clubhouse into a 2 star experience. Sort it out!!!

Excellent course, friendly staff. Great day

I had never played the course before and had heard mixed reviews, particularly when owned by the previous owners. We bit the bullet and went out to play a round. The staff in the shop were super friendly, everything was well maintained and the course played perfect. The fairways were firm and the greens were running hard and fast. The bunkers were the only part of the course that needs attention, with lots of little stones. Overall, we had a great day out and the course was brilliant. Plays very links style, would highly recommend. We will be back

Good value for money - worth a visit

Good challenge although very windy on the day we played. Greens fast but fair, the wind still caused done 3 putts! Although there is no standout holes (perhaps 16th an exception) the overall course is good, well maintained and architecturally quite good. As with most newish courses bunkers tend to be poor and let down the course but overall enjoyable and good value for money.

Course Moyvalley - some challenging holes on back 9.

A windy & rainy morning but enjoyed the game. Course in good nick except bunkers v.hard after rain. Course was surprisingly dry. There could be a few more directions like 'next tee arrows'. It is a linksy course in ways eg you get the full force of the wind as there are hardly any trees, so shot choice was vital.

    Mixed bag

We were greeted at the course by a fairly unfriendly gentleman in the clubshop who demanded a friend of mine change out of combats before he allows him out on the course. I'm all for banning jeans and tracksuit bottoms etc. but these combats were almost like regular golf trousers with a couple of extra pockets down the side. This on a day when there's 3 cars in the carpark if you know what I mean - in the middle of a recession and all! There were signs everywhere advertising food for sale "all day", but the clubhouse was closed after our round. The fairways weren't in great nick, just shorter than the rough, in need of water or some nutrients. It's a place to go if you want an audience out of the staff (who should be maintaining the place) - I would say that they have enough to do other then sitting observing customers swings and etiquette on the greens - my friend foolishly didn't fix his pitchmark (I didn't realise this as I was on the other fairway with my wayward swing!), but they made a holy show out of telling him as much - there is a such thing as a polite reprimand. On the other hand the place is very well drained and magnificently designed by Darren Clarke - a good test. In some ways I wonder if the staff are attempting to snatch defeat from the arms of victory.

Some great challenging holes & the greens are fantastic

First time playing this course,it's a great course. We played with a low, medium & high handicap players & the course would suit everyone. Weather made holes that bit longer but that's the joys of winter golf in Ireland. Had a lot of rain the previous day & the course has great drainage so there was very little casual water, would play this course again when the weather improves, great value for the money we paid.

    Nice course, very challenging!

Nice course to play. Every shot in the bag is tested, your course management is key, an iron or 3/5 wood off the tee is the shot for some of the par 4's to avoid bunker/tree trouble on others you can smash the driver, a lay up 2nd shot is best on the par 5's again to avoid trouble although longer hitters might think about risk/reward on the par 5's!! Greens are honest but again quite challenging, very few if any straight putts. In the rough you either have luck or you don't, ball can sit up but can also burry which requires a hack out. I look forward to playing here again, great value for money!!

    "sandy" Lyle

Very modern frindly reception when you walk in, Course looks fantastic. It is a very open looking course but a hole or two in I was wondering was there aware this wasnt going to be easy!! very challenging similar to a links course in that if you get in trouble off the beaten track take my advice and drop one YOU WILL NEVER FIND IT !. These tight fairways plus the bunkers, the quantity which I have not seen since watching Saving Private Ryan, make this this un-assuming course a real challenge and will chew you up on a bad day. Overall excellent nice elevation changes well kept greens and although I was there in bad weather the drainage system is top notch, no swamps here.
