An interesting layout of 9 holes (played twice) with an eclectic selection of holes including long and short par 3s, dogleg par 4s as well as a couple of par 5s. Aside from the well-bunkered greens that can make approach shots all the more testing, there are a number of blind tee shots on the dogleg holes. Along with this is the added challenge of the long rough that lines some of the fairways. Overall, this is one of the best young courses in Yorkshire.
Whitwood Golf Club is located just over 2 miles from Castleford, easily accessible via A655 from junction 31 of M62.
So, so windy. Not the club's fault but did make the round difficult. Ground was in decent condition, rough was not too challenging, deviously placed bunkers. Being a nine hole course means it is long twice over. Personal preference is one or two shorter holes, the par 3 is about 160 yards.
I recommend this course
