Course Information

Designed by Peter Aliss and Clive Clark, Hurtmore Golf Club opened in 1992. The course itself measures at 5,530 yards, meaning it is not the longest, but what it lacks in length it more than makes up for with testing hazards that will punish errant shots. Hurtmore Golf Club utilises both natural and manmade hazards including an abundance of water, bunkers and trees. The fairways gently undulate and to score well round here it is necessary to hit it straight off the tee and putt well. Watch out for the par 5 15th hole, with out of bounds down the left and water, score well here to ensure a good finish.

Short and forgiving, but excellent condition.

We played a mid-week 3 ball in possibly the worst conditions of the year. Despite the torrential downpours the course was in fantastic condition, the fairways remained dry and there were only a few greens that held tiny amounts of standing water. But the course is simply tiny, even off the back tees. There are a handful of par 4s that are driveable for even an average hitter and another few in range for the big hitters, none of which particularly punish a wayward attempt. Employing shorter flagsticks to make the hole seem further away did not fool anyone, either. All this being said, we thoroughly enjoyed the course and will definitely be returning. It was a great confidence booster for the 28 handicapper in our group to be able to have a few birdie putts. The staff and the food in the club house were great.

    Great Course

Hurtmore golf club is a great course even if it is shorter than most others. It has its own challenging holes with tight dog legs left and right. Even in the winter the greens are in good condition and very rarely gets water logged. Dispute not have a driving range the indoor simulator is great and very well priced. Highly recommend!!

    Avoid at all costs

This course has been shooed into a tiny plot that would suit a 9 hole course. Most of the par 4s are driveable and under 300 yrds with just one par 5 - most of the par 4s would make nice long par 3s. The greens were dreadful like putting on the surface of the moon. Most of the bunkers were full of water and had little sand in. Play was slow due to the very low standard of players in the groups behind and in front of us. I dont think I'd play here again even if it were free.

    Short but well layed out

The course is short but well layed out. Course was busy which was ok as showed it was popular. Course was in good condition for a November day. The down side was after the round of golf my playing partners were all hungry and thirsty and after standing at the bar for 5 minutes plus no one appeared to serve us so left unfed and got a hot drink from the vending machine in the entrance.

    Nice course to practice on

Hurtmore is fairly tight so makes you think more carefully about where you hit the ball, greens in good condition and almost all Bunkers had good sand depth.

    Confidence builder

Hurtmore is a confidence building course that is relatively easy. I am a big hitter so it is therefore a lot of holes are just drives and pitches. There are a few annoying out of bounds and the 3rd is one of the toughest par 4s around with the 18th having the potential to be a round killer. You will be in a bunker at least once on your round so make sure you can get out of them. The facilities are good for a golf course on the cheaper side and a social event could work well here. They have an amazing new simulator set up which I have yet to try as I prefer to play outdoors. The staff can sometimes seem grumpy but overall ok.

    Slow day out

Course in good condition other than a few bunkers still had standing water in them from a storm more than a week earlier which seems unnecessary. Three of the greens also had oil on them from a leaked mower. Otherwise the course was good but the pace of play behind a society was dire. First nine holes took two-and-a-half hours.

    Value for money

The day we played many courses locally were closed after storms but aside from water in the bunkers, the course was in great shape. The design has made the most of the space, so some of the fairways and greens are close together. Forgiving rough and well-paced greens.
