The par 71 parkland course playing just over 6,000 yards off the tips has matured well and with the 18 new greens, built in 2004, bedding in well it is one that is always improving. Some may consider the layout short by modern standards but it has the ability to play tight and tough. The course features two rivers that together come into play on half of the holes. Mix that with tree-lined fairways and only one green not protected by sand, and it is safe to say that it would be advisable to sharpen up your iron play on the practice area beforehand. If these hazards are avoided off the tee and a well-placed iron shot is well away from the sand, then you will find that the USGA-spec surfaces allow for a true rolling putt that can make up for any earlier mistakes on the scorecard. The variety of challenges and the premium placed on accuracy makes Buckingham Golf Course a stern test for all.
