Opened in 1906, Leigh Golf Course is an established and mature parkland course that has been noted for having excellent greens. The tree-lined fairways couple with strategically-placed bunkers to make for course that requires good accuracy and course management to get a decent score. The signature par 4, 6th hole has a dogleg right with a ditch running across the fairway. If you lay up short you will leave yourself a mid to long iron in, but if you go for glory and go over the ditch you could be looking at a great birdie opportunity.
Leigh Golf Club is located just over 16 miles West of Manchester, easily accessible via the M602/M62.
It's unfortunate that a great course such as this is still open. I booked in good faith to play on full greens having checked the day before. However, whilst this was disappointing the course itself was soaked and we generally considered that the course wasn't fit for play. The joys of booking online!
