Course Information

As with all of Harry Colt's designs, including the one here at Hendon, the layout blends in naturally with the surroundings. The fairways are lined with a collection of varying tree types and many are uphill. Some dogleg holes are thrown into the mix and bunkers are prevalent throughout especially down the side of the fairways. The par 4, 2nd hole is the signature requiring a shot over the watercourse which crosses the fairway just short of the small green. Interesting fact: The bridge crossing the stream on this hole has been modelled on the one which can be found crossing the Swilken Burn at St. Andrews.

Tee time issues and very slow play

Even with a tee time it is a matter of queuing on the first tee to set off. I suspect the members just show up and go and it can be an uncomfortable rugby scrum. Have played this course a few times a year and each time state that, "It will be my last!" Recently behind a 3 ball who were not golfers. The group behind us regularly hitting into us. No marshals and no help to hand. It is a pity because the course is a nice one but when it is heavily used the rounds will almost certainly be frustrating.
