Radcliffe-on-Trent golf Club looks out across the Vale of Belvior with the castle on the horizon. Since forming as a club in 1909 the club has played a large role in golf locally and even nationally. In 1982 the club held a junior tournament named the McGregor Trophy. The competition quickly gained traction attracting some of the best junior golfers including Lee Westwood, Justin Rose and Eduardo Molinar. The competition became such a success that the English Golfing Union adopted it as the English Boys under-16 Open Championship, the leading stroke play event for the age group.
